Description of Services:
Diabetes, endocrinology (medical specialty concerned with the diagnosis and treatment of diseases related to hormones) and metabolism clinics * care and patient education
Primary regional centre for diabetes and endocrine disease management in Southwestern Ontario * conducts research, including clinical trials, to improve care and outcomes
Clinical Investigations Unit - Outpatient endocrine testing * most tests start early in the morning and can last from three to eight hours * specific instructions are provided for each patient
Families Preventing Diabetes - Self management program to reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes after experiencing gestational diabetes * encourages changes to lifestyle practices, including dietary adjustments, 150 minutes of physical activity each week, and exclusive breast feeding for at least the first month after giving birth
