Description of Services:
Healing and wellness services for Indigenous peoples * culturally appropriate care and support for mental health, substance use, homelessness, and family violence
- Crisis Telephone Line Holistic crisis telephone line providing supportive counselling
- Education and Advocacy Giwetashkad: Indigenous Homelessness StrategyEmphasizes community engagement and an Indigenous-led approach, with a focus on creating a sense of safety, belonging, and connection for individuals experiencing homelessness * By utilizing cultural knowledge and practices, the plan aims to promote truth and reconciliation and break the cycles of historic and ongoing trauma faced by Indigenous people in Canada.
- Family Support Unit Focuses on the intervention and prevention of family violence by offering counselling (group or individual, support, traditional teaching circles and advocacy)
- Yakhiya’take’nhas Supportive Housing Transitional housing for Indigenous women, with or without children, who are experiencing violence or homelessness, or are at risk * clients may live in the residence for up to one year * counselling and referrals * assistance with applying to long-term housing
- Zhaawanong Emergency shelter for Indigenous women, with or without children, who are experiencing abuse, violence, or homelessness
